Climate change has increasingly become the focus of great ape survival on Earth.
The idea of climate change has struggled to gain widespread acceptance in political, economic and environmental circles. Why? Historically change suggests something life — human and non-human — can adapt to, so why stress. More accurately is the idea of climate chaos — chaos is abrupt, unpredictable, erratic and volatile — in short, not something we can adapt to.
Initially climate chaos may appear to have little to do with great ape survival in the wild, but when we look at all the factors pressuring apes it becomes clear that just as understanding the global climate requires considering a range of factors — desertification, carbon sequestration, greenhouse gases, deforestation, etc.
